In between painting commissions (and sometimes in the middle of some as a rest) I’m trying to get through my own back log of miniatures. I have piles of miniatures desperatly vying for my painting attention so that I can include them in my armies. The problem is i’m a restless painter that needs to have something new and exciting to paint, and painting squads and regiments of the same type of miniature can become very boring. Sowhen I have a free moment or just as a mental break whilst painting commissions, I try to grab one of my collector models to paint.
This time round I saw several small Warhammer collector boxes on my shelf and decided to finally put a show piece into my display cabinet. I choose the Warhammer 40k 25th Anniversary model of the Crimson Fist Captain with the banner in the background. Unfortunetly I did’t get it completed in time before the next commission work turned up.
So as it stands I got the space marine painted, the base painted and glued to a display stand and began work on the banner before I had to stop.
I didn’t want to go out of my way to make changes and/or add more features to the diorama as I knew I had a limited time frame. Frankly I really just want to get some of these collector models of my to-do list as there are soo many more miniatures waiting my attention.
Here are the work in progress photos. I’m hoping to have the banner finished off in a week, so keep an eye out for an update.
